Sontex at E-world 2026: Interoperability and New Solutions in Focus

At E-world 2026, the Sontex Group presented current solutions for a connected energy and water supply. The focus was on the interoperable connection of Sontex metering solutions to Smart Meter Gateways, the new Superaqua 3 and Superaqua 5 ultrasonic water meters, and the new SA2-L LoRaWAN® smoke alarm.

E-world 2026 in Essen provided the Sontex Group with an opportunity to present current developments and new solutions for the digitalization of energy and water supply. Three topics were at the centre of the exhibition: the interoperable connection of Sontex metering solutions to Smart Meter Gateways, the new Superaqua 3 and Superaqua 5 ultrasonic water meters, and the expansion of the LoRaWAN® portfolio with a new smoke alarm.

Interoperable Smart Metering with Sontex

One of the highlights was the confirmation by PPC of the interoperable connection of Sontex metering solutions via wM-Bus/OMS with the CLS Adapter Submetering on the Smart Meter Gateway (SMGW).

This confirms the successful connection of Sontex metering technology to a Smart Meter Gateway. For metering service providers, municipal utilities and the housing industry, this opens up the possibility of implementing interoperable submetering via an SMGW.

The solution also offers interesting perspectives for applications in the energy sector. In district heating, for example, the Smart Meter Gateway can serve as a central communication platform. This can also make the connection of Sontex thermal energy meters via the CLS interface relevant for corresponding applications.

Superaqua 3 and Superaqua 5 Expand the Sontex Portfolio

Another focus of E-world 2026 was the new Superaqua 3 and Superaqua 5 ultrasonic water meters. The two products specifically complement the Sontex portfolio for applications in water management, commercial environments and submetering, and are part of the Sontex Group’s ultrasonic initiative.

Both water meters use non-invasive ultrasonic technology and feature MultiCom mode, enabling parallel transmission via LoRaWAN® and wM-Bus. An NFC interface supports modern configuration via app. Depending on the version, the meters offer a battery life of up to 16 years.

The Superaqua 3 is available in nominal sizes DN15 to DN50 in brass or composite, while the Superaqua 5 covers the range from DN50 to DN200.

New LoRaWAN® Product: SA2-L Smoke Alarm

With the new SA2-L LoRaWAN® smoke alarm, Sontex is also expanding its LoRaWAN® portfolio with another application. The product complements the existing range of LoRaWAN® solutions for different areas of application.

LoRaWAN® offers energy suppliers, municipal utilities and the housing industry a wide range of possibilities for implementing smart metering and smart city applications. The new smoke alarm opens up additional opportunities for the energy and housing sectors as well as for submetering applications.

These include, for example, standardizing on a single wireless technology, using dedicated LoRaWAN® network infrastructure and implementing decentralized networking strategies.

Three Topics, One Common Focus

With the confirmation of the interoperable SMGW connection, the new ultrasonic water meters and the expansion of its LoRaWAN® portfolio, the Sontex Group presented different approaches to an increasingly connected energy and water supply at E-world 2026.

The event also provided an opportunity to present these solutions in direct discussions with customers and partners and to exchange views on specific applications and future developments in metering and submetering.
